  4/3/2020  - Livestock Show
The Smith Valley FFA Alumni is going to be hosting a livestock show in the valley the first weekend of April. The alumni is going to help put on the livestock show but the Smith Valley FFA Chapter will be running the show when it comes time to do the show. We hope to have a many species jackpot show with money and buckle prizes for the winners of those shows. With the help of the alumni the chapter should be able to put on a great livestock show. The best part of putting on the livestock show is that we get to award students for their hard work that they put into raising their livestock animals for the show.
5/6/2020  - End of Year Banquet
At the End of the Year Banquet, our supporters/sponsors, parents, family members, chapter members, and community leaders are invited to a banquet where we recognize our successes as a chapter, individual awards, the seniors, and our sponsors/supporters for their donations and help.

Strengthening Agriculture - Chapter Recruitment
  2/17/2020  - 6th Grade Goodie Bags
During FFA week, as part of our recruitment process, we give the sixth graders goodie bags with candy and things of the sort but also of information about FFA. This allows the kids to go through some information on their own time and if they're really interested they'll join when they're in high school.
Strengthening Agriculture - Safety
  2/20/2020  - Elementary Farm Day
Elementary farm day is a day when all of the business owners get together along with the officers to teach the elementary students about the importance of agriculture and farming. The business owners get to showcase their businesses to the elementary kids as well as bring down other farm animals/equipment that is used in day to day agriculture work. The businesses and other items are set up in stations and each elementary grade gets to rotate through each station and learn a little bit about each item/animal and the safety precautions to take with each item.  This is a good way for the FFA to teach kids about the importance of agriculture and safety around agricultural equipment.
5/30/2020  - Farm Clean Up Day
Once a year we ask all of the chapter members to participate in a farm clean up day. We like to present our farm in a cleanly manner and right before the summer we have a big farm clean up day. This helps all of the businesses at the farm when it comes to maintaining the farm cosmetically. If the farm looks to be in good shape the people of the community will know that good products come from the farm. Keeping the farm clean is also a safety precaution. If the farm isn't free of weeds or tools something bad could happen to a member who is walking around or doing things at the farm, it could also be harmful to the livestock kept at the farm.
Strengthening Agriculture - Agricultural Literacy
  2/17/2020  - FFA Week Assembly

To kick of FFA Week we plan to have and FFA Week Assembly. First we want to introduce the officer team, and acknowledge them for some of their accomplishments in FFA. Then we want to show our promotional video, and right after have a guest speaker to talk about their journey through FFA and what it has done for their life. Last we want to do a mock CDE competition.

3/9/2020  - Ag in the Classroom
This is a day where the Smith Valley FFA creates lessons about the importance of agriculture to teach the students and their teachers about. This is one of the most important events put on by our FFA chapter because we get a chance to teach the younger generations about how necessary agriculture is in our community and in our world. Without agriculture we would not be able to continue to live the way we do. We also get a chance to talk to their teachers about why it is super important for them to include agriculture in the lessons they teach their students.
Strengthening Agriculture - Agricultural Advocacy
  2/18/2020  - FFA Week
FFA Week is an event that our officer team strategizes about throughout the year. Before FFA Week we have several meetings, and we create different committees so that we can come together in the end and pull off an outstanding FFA Week. The Saturday before FFA Week we come together as an officer team and decorate the school according to the plan our decoration committee wrote out. Throughout the week we have dress up days, so each day we ask the student body to dress up according to what we have planned. On Monday we kick off FFA Week with the officers performing our opening ceremonies. Then, later in the day we have an assembly that will consist of games, this year we plan on playing a promotional video to advocate our Ag program as well as recruit new FFA members, we will have a guest speaker, as well as senior recognition. Tuesday the officer team gets together in the morning and we cook the staff breakfast just to recognize them for their hard work, and to thank them for all the support they have given our Chapter. Wednesday we have Ag in the Classroom, our officer plans out lessons about Ag then present them to the elementary. Ag in the Classroom is a good way to connect with the younger kids at our school, and to start getting them thinking about FFA, and if it is something they would like to pursue in High School. Also, Ag in the Classroom is a good way to promote teachers to educate their classes on Ag, because it is such an important aspect in their lives. Thursday the officer team puts together a Farm Day where the elementary students can come down to our farm, and we put together a petting zoo type of set up so the kids get a chance to interact with us, and some of the animals we have at our farm. Friday we perform our closing ceremonies at announcements, and throughout the day we hold a FFA Scavenger Hunt and whoever wins it gets a free item from our selection of Ag Swag.
